Celebration Display

A large crowd of families, friends and guests enjoyed our Celebration Display at Stechford Cascades in January 2010. The display included many of the medal winning routines which brought the club success during 2009.

15-17 gold medal winning team

2009 was a tremendous year for Birmingham Synchro. In regional competitions the club won gold medals in 26 events, silver in 13 events and bronze in 8 events. The season came to a climax with superb performances at the National Championships resulting in a gold medal for the 15-17 team, a silver for the 13-14 team and bronze medals for the 12 & under team and the 12 & under duet.

One of the club's senior members, Yvette Baker moved to Aldershot to train full time with the GB Senior Squad during 2009 and, more recently, 14 year olds Katie King and Lucy Ridge have been selected to take part in trials for the 2010 England Age Group Squad.

Young "Learn to Synchro" group

Success breeds success and membership of the club increased significantly during 2009 with many younger members joining and the Celebration Display provided the newer members with the opportunity to perform their routines to an audience for the first time.

At the Celebration Display a large crowd of families and friends were joined by a number of special guests including Birmingham's City Swimming Coordinator Sid Hardy, who commented "The display was absolutely wonderful, be it the young Learn to Synchro children or the Seniors. The skill level that the children reach never ceases to amaze me".

Head Coach Allison Pratt

During 2009 the Club achieved Swim 21 accreditation and Club Mark status which represesnt 'quality marks' that are recognised nationally as indicating that clubs are committed to providing safe, effective and quality services for the benefit of their members

The success of the club is to a large extent due to the dedication and hard work of a team of coaches and volunteers led by Head Coach Allison Pratt who commented "I am delighted with what the club has achieved during the last year, 2009 was one of our best years ever. We have a number of promising athletes who have the potential to compete at international level and the growing momentum we are seeing in the influx of new members to the club bodes well for the future."
